THE EARS ARE ACTIVE DURING SLEEPING

So We sealed their ears [with sleep] in the cave for a number of years. (Qur'an, 18:11)

The original Arabic of the phrase "We sealed their ears" in the Qur'an is the verb daraba. This bears the metaphorical meaning of "We have made them sleep." Used in reference to the ears, daraba means "preventing the ears from hearing." The fact that only the sense of hearing is mentioned here is very significant.

According to recent scientific discoveries, the ear is the only sensory organ active while a person is sleeping. This is why we need an alarm clock to wake up. The wisdom of the phrase "We sealed their ears" is, in all probability, that Allah closed the hearing of the young people in question, for which reason they remained asleep for many years.

No excuse to miss As-Salat (the Prayers)

Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran: "Verily! I am Allâh! Lâ ilâha illa Ana (none has the Right to be worshipped but I), so Worship Me, and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât) for My remembrance". (the Holy Quran, chapter 20, vers 14)

Abu’huraira. 'Allah be pleased with him', narrated: I heard Allah’s Apostle 'Allah’s blessing and peace be upon him' saying: “If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day, would you notice any dirt on him?” They said: “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet 'Allah’s blessing and peace be upon him' added: “That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah erases evil deeds.” (Sahih Bukhari, The Book of Prayer Times) [1]

Abu’huraira 'Allah be pleased with him' narrated: Allah’s Apostle 'Allah’s blessing and peace be upon him' said: “Angels come to you in succession by night and day and all of them get together at the time of the Fajr and Asr prayers. Those who have passed the night with you (or stayed with you) ascend (to the Heaven) whom Allah asks, though He knows everything about you well: “How did you leave my slaves?” The angels reply: “When we left them they were praying and when we reached them, they were praying.” (Sahih Bukhari, The Book of Prayer Times)[2]

Allah (swt) says in the Holy Quran: "Say (O Muhammad): Verily, My Salât (prayer), My sacrifice, My living, and My dying are for Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and All that exists)". (the Holy Quran, chapter 6, vers 162)

Istighfar- Seeking Forgiveness

The Prophet ( peace be upon him), said, "The best supplication for forgiveness is to say, 'Allahumma

(O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and

I am Your servant, and I try my best to keep my covenant (faith) with You and to live in the hope of

Your promise. I seek refuge in You from evil done by me. I acknowledge Your favors upon me and I

acknowledge my sins. So forgive me for none forgives sins but You."') The Prophet (peace be upon

him), added, "If somebody recites this during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day

before the evening, he will be one of the people of Paradise. And if somebody recites it at night with

firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be one of the people of Paradise." (Bukhari)
